Jamie Bernadette starred in The Asylum’s “MILF” and appeared in “Celebrity Sex Tape” and has been in numerous other movies, TV shows, and short films. She’s as genuinely kindhearted as she appears as you’ll see.
So you’re the youngest of nine? I have to ask, how was that?
JAMIE: It was truly amazing growing up with so many loving, warm-hearted people around me. I can honestly say that the nine of us love each other to pieces and get along great. As a child, I was never lonely that’s for sure! Being the youngest was a challenge though because I wanted to do things that the older kids were doing but couldn’t just yet. So I learned to keep myself busy until they came home. When I was a child, I did puzzles for about 8 hours a day while the older kids were at school or elsewhere. Then, as I became older, I started to read books and I’d read book after book. I never watched much TV and I still don’t, which is ironic because I’m an actress.
Do you still have family back in Kankakee and go back there?
JAMIE: Yes, my whole family is back in Kankakee and I have one brother up in northern California. I go back there 2-3 times a year. It’s so slow there and calm. It’s a completely different world from LA. It’s nice to go back and visit.
Anything crazy, funny, or scary happen while filming MILF?
JAMIE: YES: I’d say scary!! This was my first time working with director Scott Wheeler. He’s a fantastic director and he knows when he gets the shots he wants. We would often do one or two takes and he’d move on and I would be thinking, “WHAT?! ALREADY DONE?!” because I can’t see what he sees, so I just had to trust him that we did enough takes and it was good. When I saw the movie, I was very happy with how my scenes came out and it was then that I knew that the next time we do one take and he says we are done, not to worry!
What’s next for you? You’ve been in movies and TV, what’s next on your list, directing?
JAMIE: Maybe directing is in my future. We will see 🙂 Right now I am working on my second screenplay. It’s a horror film that centers around the friendship between six girls. I’ve been writing since I was six years old. It’s a passion of mine. I’ve had poems published and I am getting together a collection of poetry that I plan to release as a book.
Before you relocated to Los Angeles, did you do any work in Chicago or Kankakee area?
JAMIE: Yes, I was in numerous plays starting from when I was a pre-teen. I didn’t start working in film, television and commercials until I came out here to LA though.
I can’t thank Jamie enough for responding to my questions and we will see more of her soon. She currently has three movies that are either in post-production or filming. In the meantime you can see what she’s up to on her twitter, Facebook, and personal website.
