When a movie starts off with two girls water skiing and they’re taken out by a two headed shark then cut to Carmen Electra posing on a boat. I’m already hooked.
The group of actors that played the students in this film did a great job playing their roles. The guys did a good job playing either the smart helpful guy or the pretty boy douchebag. The girls did an excellent job of playing the bitchy trixie or the sweet girl next door.
The story was well written starting with the boat getting damaged, the group gets to the island, the way to get the victims into the water for the attacks, and all the shark attacks were well done. The dialogue matched up with the actors and actresses, the only problem I had was sometimes the cleavage was distracting to what they were saying or I was jealous of the guys six pack abs.
A lot of times movies will have characters say or do something that doesn’t make sense or just idiotic. I like how it was taken care of simply in this movie. One example is Kate (Brooke Hogan) is scared of water due to a past shark encounter. I’m thinking WTF are you doing on this trip? Fortunately that’s exactly what she was asked by someone else. Thank you, Kate’s fear is established and I can move on. Another moment is when someone says “something is not right”, most of the time everyone else looks around thinking the same thing, but fortunately another student takes care of it by saying “no shit”, perfect, done.
There was some powerful drama that had me pause the movie and go get a drink to calm down. A guy and two girls are having some steamy fun and when the shark was heading toward them I wanted to dive into the TV and stop the shark, for at least another minute….okay thirty seconds. Unfortunately I couldn’t, but at least that kill scene was pretty sweet, but I won’t spoil it, yes I will, the two girls that were kissing are standing in the water and they go into convulsions then blood spews out of their mouths and the shark takes them under to finish them. Then cut to Carmen Electra tanning.
With the island sinking and everyone doomed, it’s a fun yet tense climax and you know there probably will be survivors, but you don’t know who and may be a little surprised. I watched the movie twice in one day, it was that entertaining to me and yes I may not be all there, but just like Charlie O’Connell said, “hot girls, blood, and excitement”.
A few other highlights:
- Shark swimming toward victim and turns to the side, it’s a kill shot.
- Trying to fix the ship, students on shore starting to panic, the ship’s crew is checking the bilges, perfect time for Carmen to sunbath.
- A girl starts to get hysterical, but before she can have a lengthy hysterical panic, Brooke steps in and slaps her within seconds. Brooke also clocks Cole later. The Hulk would be very proud!
- “SCUTTLE IT, SCUTTLE IT” you have to hear her say it. I’m going to use that line whenever possible.
